Stop that fuzzy prayers

ANCHOR TEXT: “Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?” 1 Corinthians 14:8. Howatt, in 1999 observed: ‘people who construct their goals in concrete terms are 50 percent more likely to feel confident they will attain their goals’. God looks abstract or difficult to relate with, not because He is elusive, stingy, or not real but because most of what human being ask Him to do are either things not clearly presented or things they can do by themselves. Just as life cannot run on vague ideas or concepts, so also, God cannot oblige vague requests. When you are praying that God should help you, in which way or area do you want Him to help you? What plans have you put in place or which efforts have you made that He will bless? If you are praying that God should make your tomorrow better than your today, what are your own plans, or what steps have you taken so far towards making it better? All Efforts

“Where there is no vision, the people perish”  Prov. 29:18 [KJV] In military strategy, the principle of The Objective states thus: “Direct all efforts towards a clearly defined, decisive & attainable objective.” Three key things jump out immediately from this definition. Direct all efforts towards a Clearly Defined, Decisive and Attainable objective. So we are going to spend some time on those three things. #1. Attainable: Do not shoot for something that is not attainable. Do not waste your time and resources. But are we not supposed to believe God for the big things and the things that are not accessible? We are! Your vision must actually make provision for things that you need help from above to attain. So I say always make allowance for the 1 Corinthians 2:9 in your vision. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man…”; those things that always look totally unattainable. So if your vision does not require a supernatural intervention, yo...

Build solid foundation in all things

A NCHOR TEXT: “He i s like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built” Luke 6:48. Why do certain ex-political leaders become wretched few years after leaving office despite the goodies attached to the office? Why do certain celebrities end up becoming emotional wreck shortly after leaving public stage? There is only one reason: they cannot sustain the lifestyle they were living or the fame they were enjoying. Certain wealth or fame are products of circumstance or chance, and beneficiaries of such may become wretched and even worse than they were if care is not taken. Sparkes in 1988 observed that more than half of former Olympic athletes have trouble adapting to more traditional post-athletic careers or life because they cannot replicate the heights of success, fame and recognition they once enjoyed in athletics. People on top want to stay on top, b...

My next door neighbour {1kings 21:1-10}

I  can't still imagine why my rich, influential and highly placed neighbour will still have eyes on my petty business that cannot foot any of his least bill The pains of it all, was the night he ordered that my little shop be demolished since according to him, it defaces his house. Is poverty a curse!  I have tried several attempts to see him even before now but he would tell his security that he doesn't want to see a mad man, that I should go and clean up. Then reading the Bible I remember Naboth and King Ahab, I also remember King David and Uriah. Then my conclusion, forget authority and don't be close to leaders or "big men" who don't have conscience. Seek help from God alone (Ps 121:1,2) They will only take advantage of your condition if not take the little we have. My prayers is,  "oh God of creation, direct poor man's humble course, guard our leaders right, and make them know alleviating poverty is their mission and not inflicting u...

Picture It

“If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves” Prov. 29:18  In the Book of Joshua, chapter six [please read] is the story of Israel. God had given them a clear objective to take Jericho. God said you and your fighting men should march round the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day you are to march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. When you hear the priests give one long blast on the ram’s horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Heaven will hear, the angels will be released and the walls will come down [translated]. Clear objective. Guess what Jericho did? As big as Jericho was, as fortified as they were, as advanced in military warfare as they were, they chose to sit back and defend. Their walls were so thick that they built houses on the walls; imagine a wall that can have houses on it. The children of Israel were walking round; they had an objective. The people of Jericho were probably ...

Victory in holiness

Memorise: Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.  Proverbs 14:34 Read: Daniel 6:19-23 19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?” 21 Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.” 23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. Message There is victory in holiness. This is a fact that many do not know of and their ignorance makes them continue to live as fake Christians. When the eyes of a child of God ...

Your ignorance will find you out

ANCHOR TEXT: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” 2 Timothy 2:15. How would you feel if your colleagues are discussing and analyzing issues and you are helplessly left out because of your inability to make meaningful contribution? How would you feel if your mates or subordinates are asking you question, on a subject that they expect you to be more knowledgeable than them, and you are unable to provide convincing answer? Of course, you will feel humiliated, lost and embarrassed! I have listened to people say they would hide their ignorance and pretend before their colleagues that they know everything. However, it will one day find you out. QUOTE OF THE DAY:“THE MORE YOU HIDE YOUR IGNORANCE, THE DEEPER YOU GO IN IGNORANCE”
