Build solid foundation in all things

A NCHOR TEXT: “He i s like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built” Luke 6:48. Why do certain ex-political leaders become wretched few years after leaving office despite the goodies attached to the office? Why do certain celebrities end up becoming emotional wreck shortly after leaving public stage? There is only one reason: they cannot sustain the lifestyle they were living or the fame they were enjoying. Certain wealth or fame are products of circumstance or chance, and beneficiaries of such may become wretched and even worse than they were if care is not taken. Sparkes in 1988 observed that more than half of former Olympic athletes have trouble adapting to more traditional post-athletic careers or life because they cannot replicate the heights of success, fame and recognition they once enjoyed in athletics. My next door neighbour {1kings 21:1-10}

I  can't still imagine why my rich, influential and highly placed neighbour will still have eyes on my petty business that cannot foot any of his least bill The pains of it all, was the night he ordered that my little shop be demolished since according to him, it defaces his house. Is poverty a curse!  I have tried several attempts to see him even before now but he would tell his security that he doesn't want to see a mad man, that I should go and clean up. God had given them a clear objective to take Jericho. God said you and your fighting men should march round the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day you are to march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. When you hear the priests give one long blast on the ram’s horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Heaven will hear, the angels will be released and the walls will come down [translated]. Clear objective. Guess what Jericho did? As big as Jericho was, as fortified as they were, as advanced in military warfare as they were, they chose to sit back and defend. Their walls were so thick that they built houses on the walls; imagine a wall that can have houses on it. The children of Israel were walking round; they had an objective. The people of Jericho were probably look
