Snare With Familiarity - Pastor William Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna Friday July 15th 2016 Key Verse: "And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country" - Luke 4:24 Text: Luke 4:23-32 One uncomely aspect of human nature is that we seldom appreciate the blessings that come to us readily. A simple logic about this condition is that, as they say, "Familiarity breeds contempt. " Thus, familiarity can be a great disservice to us even where it does not breed contempt, at least, according to one time English writer, William Hazlitt. When the Lord Jesus, reading from Isaiah's prophecy, announced the immediate commencement of His ministry. The people marvelled at the depth of wisdom and power in His discourse but failed to trust Him as the Messiah. Familiarity robbed them of the great advantage of having the Messiah among them. Christ chided them for this. He reminded them that it was the same attitude of belittling acknowledged prophets that made Elijah to by-pass the Jewry an

Pure And Simple - Pastor Femi Monehin

God's Favourite House Daily Devotional Friday July 15th 2016  And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper” - 1 Kings 19:12 If you do not focus on simplicity, you get complexity by default. Simplifying things is a lot like digestion, it is a lot of work but that is where productivity begins. There is a rule called Occam’s Razor, Occam’s Razor simply states that “it is pointless to do with more what can be done with less”. It appears to be straight forward, right? It is pointless to do with more what you can do with less. Sometimes we just waste resources. Without casting aspersions at our ladies, why do you have to say in so many words what you can say with just a few? For example, my wife wants to tell me how she bought one brand of bacon because she did not find the regular one we normally buy. Instead of going straight to the point, she starts by telling me how she got into the ca

Discourage the Devil - Kenneth Copeland Ministries

From Faith To Faith Daily Devotonal Friday July 15th 2016 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. – Luke 6:22-23 Do you want to know how to depress the devil? Just follow the instructions in that last verse. When persecution comes, when friends or family criticize you because you lay hands on the sick and believe in healing, and when co-workers call you a fanatic because you love Jesus and aren't afraid to say so, rejoice! Shout hallelujah and leap for joy! I tell you that will discourage the devil to no end. He's expecting that persecution to hurt you. He's expecting it to damage your faith, to wipe you out and to leave you in dismay. I'm not saying you should enjoy the per

A Partaker Of Other People's Sins? - Pastor E.A Adeboye

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Friday July 15th 2016 Memory Verse: Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure. - 1 Timothy 5:22 Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 18:28-34 28. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.  29. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.  30. Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.  31. And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.  32.For it came to pass, that, when the captains of t
