Be Careful Of What You Say

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 17th October, 2016 Text: Titus 3:1-8 Key Verse: “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men” (Titus 3:2). One of the most cherished human rights is “freedom of expression” – having the liberty to express oneself without fear. Many however misjudge this freedom to think that it includes the liberty to malign, falsely accuse and slander others. This has caused many conflicts that have created bitter enmity among many. Most common in the wrong use of this freedom is the way most people talk about the government and people in position of authority. Many times, people who criticize do not have the correct fact on the things they comment about, but pick up rumours and hear- say. Unfortunately, many so-called Christians indulge in this uncharitable behaviour as well. Our text today spells out the expected conduct of the believer. We are not to be uncharitable in the way we use our words. The Bible forbids

Be Conscious Of The Power That Works In You

Rhapsody Of Realities Daily Devotional With 17th October, 2016 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21). 2 Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” The Holy Spirit is the power of the Godhead and He lives in you in His fullness: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” (Acts 1:8). His power is working in your spirit. Our theme verse says, “ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us….” What an inspiring thought! Notice that it didn’t say, “…according to the power that worketh in heaven.” This explains that you have a role in the operations of the miraculous and supernatur

Firm Footing

Your Daily Devotional With Femi Monehin 17th October, 2016 click here to listen to the audio devotional:  “People with integrity have a firm footing, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.”  Proverbs 10:9 [emphasis added] The first thing you do in dealing with the stress of compromise is, Do the right thing. Doing the easy thing may seem simpler in the short run but on the long run doing the right thing is less stressful. People with integrity have a firm footing, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall” [emphasis added]. You have to choose between a firm footing or slipping and falling, what will it be? This is something you need to wrestle with and settle in your heart. Why? It is because the stress of being found out is enormous in itself. Have you noticed that when you want to do something bad, the enemy would say, nobody will find out after all there is no one else here but you. And have you noticed that as soon as you do it, that same vo

Living the Love Life

Your Daily Devotional With Kenneth Copeland 17th October, 2016 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13 We often think of "laying down your life" for someone else in terms of dying. That's what Jesus did. He loved us so much He laid down His life by dying in our place so that we could live. But now, He's asked us to lay down our lives in a different way. He's asked us to show our love, not by dying for others, but by living for them. Exactly what does that mean? Sometimes it means giving our lives by spending time in prayer for someone. Other times it means giving of ourselves with love and understanding. Many times it means laying down our own selfish desires in order to meet the needs of another. Romans 15:1 puts it this way, "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves." When you lay down your life, you live to please God inste

Our Success Is In God

Your Daily Devotional With Andrew Wommack 17th October, 2016 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. MATTHEW 26:33 Just like Peter, we are often more confident of ourselves than God is. Many Christians are devastated when they fail in some area that they thought they had long since grown past. We need to realize that as long as we are in this mortal body, we cannot fall asleep at our battle station against the works of the flesh. If we do, our flesh is just as capable of sin as anyone else's. If we fall, it should concern us but not surprise us. We should simply realize with Paul, that "in my flesh dwelleth no good thing," get back into the spirit through confession and forgiveness, and go on with Jesus. The Lord has never had anyone who was qualified working for Him. Peter wasn't qualified, and even at our best, neither are we. If we realize that we are nothing and have nothing, the

Do We Have To?

Our Daily Bread Devotional 17th October, 2016 Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-28 Bible in a Year: Isaiah 50-52; 1 Thessalonians 5 Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:16) Joie started the children’s program with prayer, then sang with the kids. Six-year-old Emmanuel squirmed in his seat when she prayed again after introducing Aaron, the teacher. Then Aaron began and ended his talk with prayer. Emmanuel complained: “That’s four prayers! I can’t sit still that long!” If you think Emmanuel’s challenge is difficult, look at 1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray continually” or always be in a spirit of prayer. Even some of us adults can find prayer to be boring. Maybe that’s because we don’t know what to say or don’t understand that prayer is a conversation with our Father. Back in the seventeenth century, François Fénelon wrote some words about prayer that have helped me: “Tell God all that is in your heart, as one unloads one’s heart, its pleasures and its pains, t

I Know Your Work II

Open Heavens Daily Devotional 17th October, 2016 Memorise: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches.  (Revelation 2 : 29) Read: Revelation 2:8-11 8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; 9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. 10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. 11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. The Almighty Father knows all that we do, nothing we do is hidden from Him. This should make us rejoice because it means that our

Deal With It!

God's Favourite House Daily Devotional 16th October, 2016 click here to listen to the audio devotional:  “People with integrity have a firm footing, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.”  Proverbs 10:9 [emphasis added] Stress is a combination of different emotions; worry, guilt, fear, bitterness, anger, tension, or anxiety, strictly based on the way we think. Yet God’s Word says we should keep a clear mind how often? When the country is epidemic free? When your workload is reduced? When the economy has stabilized to one naira to one dollar? Keep a clear mind in every situation. What situation is stressing you right now? God wants you to keep a clear mind and be stressless. Over the next few days, we will be looking at the stress of compromising, the stress of conflict, the stress of competition, and the stress of commitment. The Stress of Compromise: This is the stress you feel when you are pressured to do something you know is wrong or something you
