Faith is not a formula, it is a friendship. Faith is simply believing God. To have faith in God simply means you trust Him and have confidence in Him. God has not distanced Himself from you in an effort to make it difficult for you to get to know Him. His arms are outstretched to you today, inviting you to come to Him and experience what you were created for: intimacy with Him. Getting to know God better is no different from getting to know a friend better. You hang out with them more, you open your heart to them more. You listen to them and you make an effort to bless them and do what makes them happy. By meditating on scriptures that talk about the character of God—His love, mercy, compassion, kindness, and goodness—you will find yourself drawing closer to Him.
