Love in Deed

Today's Word with Joel & Victoria 5th October, 2016 “...Let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth...” (1 John 3:18, AMPC) As a believer, we are the hands and feet of Jesus in this earth. God wants to bless people, and He wants to use you and me to do it! He wants to work through us to show His love and compassion and draw people to Himself. Notice this verse tells us that love isn’t just about our words or thoughts; it’s about our actions. It’s about reaching out and meeting the needs of others. Sometimes, meeting a person’s need is as simple as sharing a smile, a hug or a word of encouragement. Sometimes it’s through material means. Can you pay for someone’s gas or groceries? Can you help them find a solution to a difficult situation? The Bible says that it’s His kindness that leads people to turn toward Him, and there are many ways to show the love of God. Today, step out and show others what real love is. Every act of kindness is ...

Subject to Change

From Faith To Faith Daily Devotional 5th October, 2016 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18). Don't center your attention on what you can see in this natural, physical sense realm. Everything you see is temporal and subject to change. So, put your faith in the unseen eternal realm. The things which are eternal are not subject to change. God's Word is eternal and it contains 7,000 promises to cover any circumstance you'll ever face. And, no matter what happens in this shifting, changing world you live in, those promises will forever be the same. No matter how bad your body feels, the Word will always say, "By His stripes you were healed" (1 Peter 2:24). No matter how bad your bank book looks, the Word will always say, "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Ch...

Good Medicine

Our Daily Bread Devotional 5th October, 2016 Read: Ephesians 4:25-32 Bible in a Year: Isaiah 23-25; Philippians 1 A cheerful heart is good medicine. (Proverbs 17:22) Careless driving, rising tempers, and use of foul language among some taxi and minibus drivers are a constant source of traffic fights in our city of Accra, Ghana. But one traffic incident I witnessed took a different turn. A bus was almost hit by a careless taxi driver. I expected the bus driver to get angry and yell at the other driver, but he didn’t. Instead, the bus driver relaxed his stern face and smiled broadly at the guilty-looking taxi driver. And the smile worked wonders. With a raised hand, the taxi driver apologized, smiled back, and moved away—the tension diffused. A smile has a fascinating effect on our brain chemistry. Researchers have found that “when we smile it releases brain chemicals called endorphins which have an actual physiological relaxing effect.” Not only can a smile diffuse a tense ...

The Antidote

God's Favourite House Daily Devotional 5th October, 2016 “Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!  Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter” Proverbs 6:6-8 The antidote for poverty is work! “But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber” (Prov.6:9-11). Some people love sleep too much. The Bible says if you love sleep you are courting poverty. May you not have scarcity, in Jesus Name. The question God is asking you today is when will you begin to work? Some Christians are passive. They claim to be waiting for God to provide their needs. My advice to such people is, get up and do something. I love to see young people being enterprising. And when their hea...
