DCLM Daily Manna 14th October, 2016  Text: Psalm 72:1-20 Key Verse: His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed (Psalm 72:17). Indescribable but exciting emotions must overwhelm a genuine believer as he reads Psalm 72. It is a prophetic psalm composed as directed by the Holy Spirit, Who knows the history of the universe. It presents a picture of the idyllic reign of the Messiah. Its immediate historical application was the first appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ Who came to die for the sinner. He brought salvation and put an end to the bondage the devil kicked mankind into. He fulfilled verses 4 and 12: “He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. (John 10:11) I love birds, which is why I bought six caged birds and carried them home to our daughter Alice, who began to care for them daily. Then one of the birds fell ill and died. We wondered if the birds would be more likely to thrive if they were not caged. So we freed the surviving five and observed them fly away in jubilation. It's more than a phrase we tack onto the end of our prayers. All that God is and does is represented in the Name of Jesus. The Amplified Bible says when you ask in His Name, you present your requests to the Father on the basis of all that Jesus is. So you can boldly expect to have those requests granted—not because you're worthy, but because He is! What's more, the Name of Jesus carries authority over all other names.
