Why do certain ex-political leaders become wretched few years after leaving office despite the goodies attached to the office? Why do certain celebrities end up becoming emotional wreck shortly after leaving public stage? There is only one reason: they cannot sustain the lifestyle they were living or the fame they were enjoying. Certain wealth or fame are products of circumstance or chance, and beneficiaries of such may become wretched and even worse than they were if care is not taken.

Sparkes in 1988 observed that more than half of former Olympic athletes have trouble adapting to more traditional post-athletic careers or life because they cannot replicate the heights of success, fame and recognition they once enjoyed in athletics. People on top want to stay on top, but unfortunately only a few stay on top, because only that few can sustain the top position. Therefore, anything that cannot be sustained or replicated cannot last.

Daily Grace Inspirations Thursday 11th August 2016 …“What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” - John 6:28–29 When I was a young Christian, I attended a seminar on what we must do to “work the works of God”. I was told that we had to pray more, fast more, know our enemy and so on. I came away from the seminar confused. Then one day, I found the same question in the Bible.
