Open Heavens Wednesday 9 September 2015: TRUE SATISFACTION

Memorise: And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: Colossians 2:10 Read: John 7:37-39 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)  Message: Our Lord Jesus Christ is so awesome; not only does He provide peace, joy, promotion, victory and rest, He also gives satisfaction. The Bible in John 7:37 says: “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” Jesus Christ is the true thirst-quencher. He knows what you need and has it in abundance. He is willing to quench that thirst of yours if only you would ...

Turning Point Today: TAKING STOCK OF THE PRESENT

“Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds” Proverbs 27:23. When Robinson Crusoe Swam ashore from his shipwrecked boat, the first thing he did was check out what stocks and guns and ammunition he had. Once he knew that, he could assess the situation and move forward. Taking stock of the present means assessing the present situation; checking the viability of what is at hand; coming to terms with reality. The essence is to learn and adjust certain things, such that what was learnt could be used to take better steps. If you do not know where you are before you start, you cannot really work efficiently towards becoming better. It is a wise man who first lays out his tools before he begins the job. After the shipwreck, Robinson Crusoe took stock of the present and made a plan: ‘I will need a shelter to keep warm, some food, and something to do’. And he set about building a thatched shelter on the beach, and so on. Sometimes, it is...

Open Heavens Tuesday 8th September: DEMONS HINDER DESTINIES

Memories: But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Mathew 15:13 Read: Luke 8:1-3 1: AND it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him 2: And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils 3: And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance. Message: As a believer in Christ, one of the traits that should differentiate you from an ordinary fellow is the ability to cast out demons (Mark 16:17). However, if demons are tormenting you and you fail to do something about them, don’t expect God to do anything either. He has already done what He should do by giving you authority over them. He expects you to exercise this authority before He...

Value Determines Price

“God forbid that I should do this!” he said. “Should I drink the blood of these men who went at the risk of their lives?” Because they risked their lives to bring it back, David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men” 1 Chronicles 11:19. A young man asked his father-in-law to explain why a bottle of wine that costs #100 in a top restaurant should really be twenty times as good as a bottle of wine that one can get for a lower price. And the man said; you are not paying for the wine alone, what you are paying for is the ambience, the service, the location, the waiters expertise, the good company, the fine table cloths, the privacy and discretion, the style and class, the humidity, the fellow dinning guest and the great conversation. All these, added together, raise the value of the bottle of wine, thus raising the price paid for it. QUOTE OF THE DAY: “A THING IS ONLY WORTH WHAT OTHERS ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT”

Open Heavens Sunday September 6: He Controls Times and Seasons

Memorise:  And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and settees up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: Daniel 2:21. Read: Daniel 2:19-21 Message: Do you know that God still reverse the irreversible? He can go into your past to affect your today, and He can also go into your future and make it glorious. He can even change your appointment with death to a future date, just as He extended King Hezekiah's life by 15 years {2 kings 20:6}. This shall be your portion in Jesus Name! Some years ago, a woman came from America to a Holy Ghost service we organised in London. She was advance in age, had attained menopause and she was a barren. During the curse of the programme, a word of knowledge came that there was a woman in the congregation for whom God had just removed 10 years from her current age. She said “Amen! That must be me". Thereafter, she told her younger sisters whom she accompanied to the ...

Open Heavens Saturday September 5: Shine In Prosperity

Memorise: Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort zion, and shall yet choose jerusalem. Zechariah 1:17.  While it is true that the Lord expects us to shine in the areas of our character and soul-winning, He also expects us to shine in the area of prosperity. No wonder He gave us great promises on the prosperity, such as this found in the Deuteronomy 28:12: “The  LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations and thou shalt not borrow.” Read: Deuteronomy 28:9-13  Message: Poverty is one of the repercussions of sin; hence there is so much poverty across the globe. God is not happy with the level of poverty in the world, this is why He has chosen to make his children prosper and set them as lights that will wipe out the darkness of poverty fr...

Why We Fail at Family Devotions

I have written about family devotions a number of times (most recently in How We Do Family Devotions), and it always leads to a response. Whenever I write about the subject, I immediately receive emails and messages from people who have tried and failed, or who are still trying and are convinced they are failing. I compiled some of that feedback and came up with a list of reasons we fail at family devotions. We Make it Too Hard: I think the main reason we fail is that we make it too hard. Family devotions are the simplest thing in the world. We just need to get the family together, and then read the Bible and pray. Anything beyond that is gravy. Sing a song if you like. Engage in discussion if you like. Memorize a catechism if you like. Don’t feel like you need to begin with more than the basics. Don’t feel like you have failed if you do not get beyond the very basics. Read a few verses and pray. Then, the next day, read and pray. And the day after that. And the one after that. T...
