Life goes on, even without you

ANCHOR TEXT: “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you” Romans 12:3.

You are just a link or part of a long historical chain. Serving your generation with your gifts and resources is a temporary privilege. Thus, it is expected of you to tread softly and do it with utmost humility and reverence for God. Here is an account of someone that is very illustrative in this regard. Phil was the manager of his company. Just because he is a manager, and the owner of the company, he began to think that the company could not run without him. He would even expressed this in meetings, asking, ‘what would you do without me? One Wednesday, he had a heart attack and died. Everyone was sad that week.

They sent condolences to his wife, and they went to his funeral on Saturday. However, by the next Tuesday, the company had hired his replacement, who moved into his office exactly one week after he died. This type of situation happens all the time, the company says, ‘life goes on’.

It happens often that the person you must really forgive is yourself. You may have committed an offence or a sin and your conscience has condemned you, just as the Holy Spirit has chastised you. “In order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes” 2 Corinthians 2:11. It is difficult to gather up resources for any productive use, or to assume control of one’s finances if leakages are not identified and blocked. Leakages are channels through which resources or money is been drained, either knowingly or unknowingly. They are instruments employed by the devil to wreck one’s destiny and finances. Thus, whatever drains your resources is never from God (John 10:10). Leakages have both spiritual and physical dimensions.
