Anticipate the next moment

ANCHOR TEXT: “Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin” Proverbs 10:14.

What does the future hold in store for you? What is it that will make you remain as the leader next year, 5 years’ time, 10 years etc? What makes you think your business or career will continue to thrive profitably tomorrow? What makes you think you will still hold your job tomorrow? These are some of the questions one must address today in order to have a better tomorrow. We are now in a dispensation where nothing is certain. No one can predict what will happen in the next minute. Government goes, government comes. No one can predict the next governmental policy.

To help us understand the need to anticipate the next moment; and that nothing must be left to chance, King Solomon drew our attention to the ants. ‘Go to the ants, you sluggard, consider her ways and be wise…’ (Proverbs 6:6-7). As tiny as they are, they prepare ahead for what they will eat next season. How much more we human beings, with developed brains, created in the image of God!
