IF GOD IS YOUR FOCUS, YOU WILL EMERGE A FOCUS

THEME: FOCUS ON GOD ANCHOR TEXT: “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame” Psalms 34:5. Have you ever been in the company of someone who makes time with God a priority? There is a sort of radiance in his attitude and overall outlook. He is always enthusiastic, hopeful and joyful. His attitude of focusing intently on God instead of worldly affair magnifies God’s glory on him. Keeping focus on Christ means to fade out everything that pulls you away from connecting to Him. It’s a disciplined lifestyle of choosing to see every blessing and struggle of now through the lens of Christ. It means resting your case on God’s injunction: ‘Cast your cares upon the Lord for He cares for you’ (1 Peter 5:7). When you commit all to Him, He will perfect all that concerns you. Peter and John in Acts 3, made God their focus and they became ‘semi gods’ to the people as a result of the erupt of miracles. The man at the beautiful gate was made perfect, crippled leg...

THEME : ABUNDANT LIFE AFTER DEATH Memorise: And he said unto me, it is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Revelation 21:6 Read: Revelation 21:1-7  21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he ...

THEME: RETREAT TO REFRESH READ: Matt. 11:25-30 When some musicians want to release great songs, they retreat to secluded places where they can reflect, meditate and create. Some choose places overlooking the vast oceans, some choose where there are waterfalls, and some choose places with thick forestations.  As they observe the beauty of nature, the swift moves and songs of the soaring birds, the colourful flowering vegetations, the serene beaches and the unending waves of the nearby waters, they capture inspiration that helps them develop the hit songs they have been longing for. I met one of the world’s renowned musicians in Atlanta, USA a few years ago where journalist surrounded him and were asking what he had come to do and why his beards had grown so much. He said that his last album did not perform well enough and he was incubating another one he wanted to release that would perform better. He said that he needed to pull away from the Noise of New York and California ...

HE WHO OBEYS GOD REMAINS ON THE SIDE OF GOD

THEME: It Pays To Obey ANCHOR TEXT: “His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you” John 2:5. Obedience is a form of act in which a person yields to explicit instructions or orders from an authority figure. It is a form of strict adherence to instructions. So, as God’s children, we are expected to do God’s will as stated in His principles. You are here to serve God’s purpose, to carry out His instructions to detail and never to bef men’s pleasers. When you live to please God, He will manifest His awesomeness through you. Sometimes ago during the United States civil war, Abraham Lincoln met with a group of ministers of the gospel for prayer. One of the ministers said: ‘Mr. President, let us pray that God should be on our side’. Lincoln’s response showed far greater insight, ‘no gentlemen, let us pray that we are on God’s side’. This is an indication that, it is only when you are on God’s side that your issue can be settled. Don’t expect God to service your needs if you...

PRAY IN THE SPIRIT 1 Corinthians 14:1-12 In his first Epistle to the Corinthians, Apostle Paul extolled the virtues of prophesying and of speaking in tongues. “ For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.”Further down in verse 18 of that same chapter, he said, “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all.” In this assertion is found the secret or mystery that explains why Apostle Paul did so much more than his contemporaries. Apart from edifying yourself when you pray in the Spirit, you also speak mysteries to God concerning issues your human intellect would never fathom or comprehend. It will profit you greatly if you follow Apostle Paul’s footsteps and pray in tongues for appreciable lengths of time every day. There may not be hard and fast rules as to how long you should pray, but the Lord Jesus seem...

THEME : HELL IS REAL MEMORISE : And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. LUKE 16 : 23. READ : LUKE 16 : 19 - 31: 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember tha...

WHAT IS IN VOGUE MAY NOT BE WHAT IS RIGHT

THEME: ASK YOURSELF; IS THIS RIGHT? ANCHOR TEXT: “No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” Genesis 39:9. To do what is right is to act in a way that pleases and glorifies God. It is having a mind disposed towards what is just according to good sense, not minding the circumstance. As a child of God, you are required to be honest and be straightforward in your dealings; the way you handle issues; keep promises, guard confidential conversations, react to situations and to the minutest saying of yes or no accordingly. People are watching to see if you are what you claim to be, and the best way to make known your belief is to live it. Do what is right at all times. If they see it modeled in your life, they will be more likely to take your faith seriously. Henry Clay was a member of the U.S congress. He was to introduce a particular bill in the ho...
