SATURDAY'S SPECIAL: THIS THING CALLED LOVE : ARE YOU SURE? (1)

We are happy to welcome you, our esteemed readers, on board as we ride-on on this week's Saturday special, after missing out on last week edition. For the next few weeks, we shall be dealing with a crucial question in courtship, and we shall give you reasons why you are not expected to act as a wife when you are just a fiancee and why you must not stop praying even after you have been connected to the man of your choice... Happy reading...  John and Jane have broken up! After 2yrs, Peter and Phebe just broke up last week! He came back from service last year and that was it: 3yrs courtship, turn to shreds! Solomon finally wrote from Canada, only for him to declare that he was no long interested.  Am sure you are familiar with these stories. They seem to be happening everyday and if you are in courtship with a brother/guy right now, you would agree with me that there's a good reason for the question : ARE YOU SURE?  Gone are those days when a lady can relax once sh...

COMPASS FOR TODAY (Sat. 13/2/16)

Topic: Choosing a mentor  Text: John 13:13-16 13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. There are several ways of predicting the future, one of such is simply looking at someone's mentor. A mentor is an adviser, guide, counsellor, coach to you. The following are the things you should know about mentoring ; 1) Not every successful person can be your mentor, for God has kept certain people to mentor certain persons 2) You can be mentored from afar via online studies, tapes, books etc 3) The extent to which you can be mentored depends on how close you are to your mentor.  4) you cannot benefit from your mentor if you...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. SATURDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2016

THEME : FULFILLING GODS PURPOSE? 4 Memorise: And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 Read : Genesis 18:17-19 17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORDmay bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. Message: The Bible declared the father as the head of home- head of the mother and the children. As such, fathers have complete authority within the household to direct the affairs of the family, and to administer discipline when necessary. However, Apostle Paul admonishes that fathers should handle authority over their children with care; they are to be careful not...

More Than Conquerors

As Christians, we often hear people quote Romans 8:37, which says we are more than conquerors. For years, I have pondered what being “more than a conqueror” actually means. I’m sure other people have different interpretations, but I have come to the conclusion that being “more than a conqueror” means you have such confidence that no matter what comes up in your life, you know that through Christ you can handle it. You know before you are ever faced with a problem that you’re going to have victory over it. You believe you can do whatever you need to do in life. Therefore, you don’t dread things, you don’t fear the unknown, and you don’t live in anxiety about what’s going to happen.  It doesn’t really matter what the specifics of each situation are, you know you will be victorious through Christ. Power Thought: I am more than a conqueror through Christ.  by Joyce Meyer.

YOU HAVE HELP FROM ABOVE Isaiah 41:8-14 It is important to know the abilities and the potentials God has invested in you. It is important that you know what you are carrying inside you – the resources that God has made available for you to fulfil your destiny. Stop thinking that the resources you need are all placed in your natural family; stop restricting yourself to where you were born. You have another family that has no limitation. Plainly, you belong to a natural family and are entitled to everything in the family that is yours by inheritance.  But never forget that you also belong to God’s family into which you were admitted the moment you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Your inward man does not originate from this physical earth. Rather, your inward man is an extension of God, having all the capability, capacity, creativity and wisdom of God. Your inward man cannot be limited or stopped because God cannot be limited. Don’t allow people to limit you because ...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. FRIDAY 12 FEBRUARY 2016

MEMORISE: And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. READ : 1 Samuel 19:9-12 9. And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand. 10. And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night. 11. Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain. 12. So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : Mark 12:41-14:42 and Job 20:20-29 Let me start by clarifying something about being alone. Being alone could be in two ways, by solitude and by loneliness. Solitude is by being alone on purpos...
