Knowing III

"If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me."
(John 21:22)

Test #3 for recognizing Gods voice is: Does it concern my responsibility? Is it your business? Peter was asking Jesus in John 21:22 what was going to happen to John. Jesus had already told Peter what would happen to Peter, and how when he grows old, how he was going to be led by another plus how he would die. But Peter turned around and began to ask about John. Jesus’ response in essence was, what is your business? A lot of people are quick to say, “God has spoken to me about you”. My thoughts are, “Really? Where was I?”

(Romans 14:4) “Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.” A single lady says to a married man, “While I was praying, God showed me that your wife was rude and not submissive”. The question is, how exactly is that your business? Does it concern your responsibility? That is what helps you test if it is your business or not. The “God told me to tell you… xyz” syndrome has caused a lot of damage in many faith communities. We have had people [even pastors], come to tell us that God says we should pay for their projects. I must have been sleeping when He said that.

Unfortunately, satan will always seek to discredit the Lord when well-meaning Christians interfere in other people’s affairs. Romans 14:10-13 [PH, with emphasis] “We will all be judged one day, not by each other’s standards, or even our own, but by the judgment of God... It is to God alone that we shall have to answer for our actions.” Guess what? The last time I checked, you are not God. It is to God alone that we shall have to answer for our actions.

If what God is saying to you is going to affect other people’s decisions then give them an opportunity to hear God for themselves. You cannot say to someone, “God told me you are my husband”; it is too presumptuous. Getting married, I did not even tell my wife what God told me until we were about to get married. It was during one of our conversations I learned what God told her. I did not go to her with “God said”. I knew what He had said but I courted her myself.

Prayer: Lord, help me understand my business and empower me to mind it, in Jesus Name. Amen!

His Channels

Rom.1:20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God [with emphasis]. So far we have examined three channels God uses to speak to us. If you are not reading your Bible consistently, if you are not listening to messages over and over again, and if you are not accountable to other believers, you do not have believers that are speaking into your life, you have already missed three main channels God speaks through. Channel #4: God speaks to us through His Creation. Ps.19:1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. 2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. 4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world [with emphasis]. God’s cre...

THEME: RETREAT TO REFRESH READ: Matt. 11:25-30 When some musicians want to release great songs, they retreat to secluded places where they can reflect, meditate and create. Some choose places overlooking the vast oceans, some choose where there are waterfalls, and some choose places with thick forestations.  As they observe the beauty of nature, the swift moves and songs of the soaring birds, the colourful flowering vegetations, the serene beaches and the unending waves of the nearby waters, they capture inspiration that helps them develop the hit songs they have been longing for. I met one of the world’s renowned musicians in Atlanta, USA a few years ago where journalist surrounded him and were asking what he had come to do and why his beards had grown so much. He said that his last album did not perform well enough and he was incubating another one he wanted to release that would perform better. He said that he needed to pull away from the Noise of New York and California ...

God Will Turn Your Life Around By Jerry Savelle

Jerry Savelle Ministries Daily Devotional Friday 12th August 2016 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them  - Deuteronomy 28:13 NKJV Many people suffer from feelings of rejection. All their lives they’ve been told things that have kept them down and held them back. Perhaps you are one of these people. Maybe you were told you’d never amount to anything. You may have been born into poverty and told you would always be poor. Or you may have been ridiculed and told that no one would ever love you. Although circumstances may make these statements appear to be factual, they are not the truth. If you go to the Bible, you’ll find out that God’s plans for you are always good. In fact, if you will put God at the center of your life, He will turn things around for you. If you allow it, God will take you from being b...
