There’re Higher Purposes Of Prayer

Rhapsody Of Realities Daily Devotional 8th October 2016

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Ephesians 6:18)

Our theme verse is quite profound. The Amplified translation makes it clearer; it says, “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all manner of prayer and entreaty….” Prayer is very important. Oftentimes, when we talk about prayer, what comes to people’s mind is asking God for things, making entreaties and requests; that’s all they’ve known about prayer. Yes, such a prayer has its place, where you make requests, but prayer has higher purposes than asking God for your needs.

Praying for material needs, that is, asking God for something for yourself is actually the lowest kind of prayer. When you pray like that, you’re praying at the babyhood stage; it’s the prayer of spiritual babies. Someone could pray, “Oh God, I need a job,” or “Lord, I need some money,” or “Dear Father, give me a car, a wife, a husband, a house etc.”; but that’s the lesser purpose of prayer.

There’re higher purposes of prayer. One of them is fellowshipping with the Father through the Spirit. Another higher purpose of prayer is the privilege to exercise our authority in Christ. There, you take your place of authority and cause things to happen within the ambits of the power given to you by Christ Jesus. Thirdly, prayer helps us to activate and walk in the consciousness of the divine presence. Fourthly, through prayer, we enforce the will of the Father in the earth.

Prayer is also the exercise of the human spirit. Now, you’d have to understand that there’re different kinds of prayer; there’s a kind of prayer that’s the exercise of the human spirit. Also, all the ones we already mentioned are covered by the different kinds of prayer. You can get and study our books on prayer: “PRAYING THE RIGHT WAY” and “HOW TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY” to learn more.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the revelation of your Word to me today, teaching me to pray accurately, in accordance with your Word. Thank you for showing me the right faith principles to apply for my prayers to produce the right results, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THEME: You Can Create Whatever You Desire John 16:21-27 The instrument with which you exercise dominion over creation is your mouth. You can create whatsoever you desire by speaking that thing into existence.Whatever you say begins to exist in the spiritual form.Jesus said in John 6:63,"The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life". In like manner, you create whatever you say and the things begin to exist in the spiritual form. What you create through words also have life and they continue to live until they find physical expression.  This is exactly what happens when you pray. The things you declare in prayer come alive and begin to exist in their spiritual form. They remain in that spiritual form until they are converted to their tangible equivalent through work. Jesus said,"until now you have asked nothing in My name.Ask,and you will receive, that your joy may be full" (John 16:24). Don't make the mistake of relaxing after you have pray...

You Must Forgive Yourself Hebrews 12:1-11 You have heard quite a lot about forgiving those that have offended you – and that you must do. It happens often that the person you must really forgive is yourself. You may have committed an offence or a sin and your conscience has condemned you, just as the Holy Spirit has chastised you. You may also have repented of this sin, confessed it to God and resolved not to go back that way. But you discover that the heaviness, clouded vision, and the erosion of confidence occasioned by the sin you committed continue to weigh you down. At such moments, you need to make another type of confession to God in order to regain your liberty from the weight that holds you down. You have to confess your unbelief in His word that says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). When you have genuinely repented of a sin and confessed it to God; and you have pleaded ...

Block All The Leakages

“In order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes” 2 Corinthians 2:11. It is difficult to gather up resources for any productive use, or to assume control of one’s finances if leakages are not identified and blocked. Leakages are channels through which resources or money is been drained, either knowingly or unknowingly. They are instruments employed by the devil to wreck one’s destiny and finances. Thus, whatever drains your resources is never from God (John 10:10). Leakages have both spiritual and physical dimensions. One can experience leakage if one is under a curse-not giving God His dues in the form of tithe; if you have flair for life’s frivolities; if you commit sin; if you constantly experience physical or spiritual robberies; if you are involved in gambling; when there is an illegal access to your secrets or bank accounts; and when you are perpetually under demonic attack of sickness; when you invest heavily in a business you do not know an...
