ANCHOR TEXT: “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)” John 18:10.
We are all creatures of emotions. There are certain decision we take; certain words we speak, and certain attitude we display that lack rationality. But unfortunately, we often expect everyone to be rational all the time. Jesus told His disciples that He would die shortly. But Peter, out of emotions said ‘No’. Was this rational? Or where is the sense in Peter’s action of cutting the ear of one of those who arrested Jesus for trial with a sword? Peter responded differently because his perspective of the scenario was different from that of Jesus Christ.
In Matthew 20:20-28, the mother of the sons of Zebedee nervously requested that Jesus should grant her two sons the privilege of sitting beside Him in His kingdom. But the response of Jesus in the two instances showed that those requests were irrational. But because He had anticipated it, He never got offended or disappointed by them. However, He listened to them. He heard them out. Even in certain irrationalities, there are still some elements of rationalities. Just as Jesus did, be all ears to people’s contribution. Sieve through and discern. Always allow people to express their mind.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “SINCE WE CANNOT REASON THE SAME WAY, WE CANNOT RESPOND THE SAME WAY”
