Theme: Put Your Needs Aside For A While
ANCHOR TEXT: “He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him” Luke 10:34.
The world is full of people with myriads of personal challenges. They are so occupied with it that only a few care to think about others. If everybody faces his or her challenges, who then will proffer solution to the needs of others? Except you put aside your personal challenges, you cannot help others out of their problems which is your primary purpose. From the account Jesus relayed to His disciples, it was not that the Samaritan did not have his personal problems. Infact, he was on his way to carry out certain assignment,
and out of the three people that passed by the wounded man, he was the only one who could put aside his personal issues momentarily. Moses, Abraham, Joshua, even Jesus Christ, Late Nelson Mandela and Ken Saro Wiwa etc were very effective and successful as leaders. They were men of the people because they concerned themselves primarily with the challenges of others, putting aside their own.
