Easter

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

When I was a little boy, my father bought me a bicycle. The bicycle changed my life totally. It released power to me at least as far as my mobility was concerned. All my mates did not have bicycles. I remember riding my bicycle and all the children on our street will run after me and it made me feel very powerful. It was so profound to me because for the first time in my life, I had power to move faster than my two legs. That bicycle was to me the power of acceleration and mobility, I could move. When I grew older, that power of mobility changed to a car. You may be wondering what the connection is between a bicycle and Easter. I will tell you.

Easter is all about The Power of God. In fact, Easter introduces The Power of God into our lives. If you had been moving at two kilometers per hour for instance, when you come in contact with The Power of Resurrection, it will enable you to go further and faster, at someone else's expense. So Easter [The Resurrection] makes The Power of God available to man.

After His resurrection, when Jesus was about to physically leave the earth, He gathered His disciples together and said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” Acts 1:8 [emphasis added]. This is so powerful. There was one of the deacons, Stephen, that The Power carried all the way to Ethiopia. When he finished preaching in Ethiopia, The Power carried him back. This is not fiction; it is real – The Power of God is real.

Imagine you need to be in the United States today and The Power carries you. When you get to the States, guess what? You will not need to go through immigration. The Power of God can literately change the life of man. The Power of God literately changed a whole nation through one man, Samson. Power is one of the major essences of Easter. To be a Christian and not to have The Power of God is to be a Christian that has not experienced Easter.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please give me a fresh experience of the essence of Easter in this season, in Jesus Name.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Friday July 15th 2016 Memory Verse: Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure. - 1 Timothy 5:22 Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 18:28-34 28. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.  29. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.  30. Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.  31. And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.  32.For it came to pass, that, whe...

THEME: You Can Create Whatever You Desire John 16:21-27 The instrument with which you exercise dominion over creation is your mouth. You can create whatsoever you desire by speaking that thing into existence.Whatever you say begins to exist in the spiritual form.Jesus said in John 6:63,"The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life". In like manner, you create whatever you say and the things begin to exist in the spiritual form. What you create through words also have life and they continue to live until they find physical expression.  This is exactly what happens when you pray. The things you declare in prayer come alive and begin to exist in their spiritual form. They remain in that spiritual form until they are converted to their tangible equivalent through work. Jesus said,"until now you have asked nothing in My name.Ask,and you will receive, that your joy may be full" (John 16:24). Don't make the mistake of relaxing after you have pray...

You Must Forgive Yourself Hebrews 12:1-11 You have heard quite a lot about forgiving those that have offended you – and that you must do. It happens often that the person you must really forgive is yourself. You may have committed an offence or a sin and your conscience has condemned you, just as the Holy Spirit has chastised you. You may also have repented of this sin, confessed it to God and resolved not to go back that way. But you discover that the heaviness, clouded vision, and the erosion of confidence occasioned by the sin you committed continue to weigh you down. At such moments, you need to make another type of confession to God in order to regain your liberty from the weight that holds you down. You have to confess your unbelief in His word that says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). When you have genuinely repented of a sin and confessed it to God; and you have pleaded ...
