THEME: HE FORGIVES AND HEALS
Psalms 103:1-13
Our passage today opened on a hilarious note, declaring, “Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies” (Psalms 103:1-4).
You will observe from this passage that God is as willing and able to heal your diseases as He is to forgive your iniquities. When your heart convicts you and points out something wrong you have done, you run to God’s presence in reverence and confess your wrongdoing. After confessing your sin before God, you rise up with an inner assurance that God has taken your plea for mercy and forgiveness and you embrace life with full joy and liberty once again.
You should exercise the same level of trust and confidence in God when you pray for healing of sicknesses. When we pray, God deals with sicknesses the same way He deals with sin. T. L. Osborn said, “Both sin and sickness came into the world through the fall of the human race. Therefore, we must look for the healing of both in the Saviour of the human race. God is as willing to heal believers as He is to forgive unbelievers. Know this; if He was merciful enough to forgive you when you were unconverted, He is merciful enough to heal you now that you are in His family!”
Do not hesitate to lay hands on the sick and command infirmities to go. As you comply, you will discover that even the most complex of cases bow to the name of Jesus.
Pray that God’s healing power will sweep through your family, church and community.
Pray for healing of hurting hearts; unstable families.
CONFESSION: in Jesus is the power to save, to heal and to bless. I am united with Him forever.
