Poju Oyemade: The Power of Meditation

power of Meditation
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy;
where unto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1: 16-21

The scripture has mentioned “your light affliction will turn into an eternal weight of glory while you look not to the things that are seen”. People often say ‘I just heard a voice’, if you hear a voice you might be right or wrong, about hearing any voice, as you might just have heard your spirit.

However, if you do not have scriptures to back whatever you heard; then how will you be able to know the end of the matter, because it is only but a voice that you heard. So This is what Peter was saying in the scriptures that we need a more sure word of prophecy that you would take heed unto. This means if somebody says ‘well, God called me to ministry’, that is, hearing a voice, what are you going to be looking out for that will transform your life into the very thing you believe on the inside. It is important therefore that God shows you something in the scriptures that you can go to everyday.

You study this particular scripture very often because this shows the end concerning what God is telling .The bible says ‘if you ask, God will give you this wisdom and once He has, then you can change your heart from a place within yourself. This can be achieved namely through meditation.

 Desist from thinking about what bad things might happen, about the pain before the end of the matter. The bible tells us of Moses that because he put a veil over his face, when he came down from the mountain, the children of Israel could not see the end of that which is abolished. Under the old testament, people could not see the end but in the new testament, you can see the end of the matter because God will reveal it to His people.

Your business is to take the end of the matter as revealed in the scripture and meditate upon it until light breaks in your mind and you become conscious of it daily. As the scriptures says “if they were mindful of the country from which they came, they would have created an opportunity to return”  We ought not look  at things that can be seen because we are occupied with the things that are not seen; with the knowledge that God has given to us. This is the conversation that should be going on the inside of us.

Paul told Timothy “ meditate upon these things that the profiting in it might appear unto all” This means you have to give whatever scripture God has revealed concerning any matter some thoughts.

 Upon meditation you find what will chart the next course of events and this is what will now occupy both your subconscious and conscious mind. This will mean you are not building any hope on any other thing except that which God has shown you.When God shows a man the scripture that “strangers will build your walls”, he sees that and knows this is to be the end of the matter so he does not expect anything from an affluent uncle, parents or perhaps friends because he has seen that in the word of God. He saves himself a lot of heart aches.

He may ask, strangers will build my wall, how? Paul says if you meditate on the matter long enough  the word will appear which means the ”strangers” will begin to appear within your environment.

 You may go to the airport and when you are about to board the flight, someone will sit beside you that you have never met and a conversation that will bring about the things you have meditated upon will be birthed and produce what they ought to in your life. God told Joshua, this book of the law must not depart out of your mouth, you need to meditate upon it day and night.

THEME: You Can Create Whatever You Desire John 16:21-27 The instrument with which you exercise dominion over creation is your mouth.You can create whatsoever you desire by speaking that thing into existence.Whatever you say begins to exist in the spiritual form.Jesus said in John 6:63,"The words that I speak unto you,they are spirit,and they are life". In like manner,you create whatever you say and the things begin to exist in the spiritual form.What you create through words also have life and they continue to live until they find physical expression.  This is exactly what happens when you pray.The things you declare in prayer come alive and begin to exist in their spiritual form.They remain in that spiritual form until they are converted to their tangible equivalent through work. Jesus said,"until now you have asked nothing in My name.Ask,and you will receive,that your joy may be full" (John 16:24). Don't make the mistake of relaxing after you have pray...

You Must Forgive Yourself Hebrews 12:1-11 You have heard quite a lot about forgiving those that have offended you – and that you must do. It happens often that the person you must really forgive is yourself. You may have committed an offence or a sin and your conscience has condemned you, just as the Holy Spirit has chastised you. You may also have repented of this sin, confessed it to God and resolved not to go back that way. But you discover that the heaviness, clouded vision, and the erosion of confidence occasioned by the sin you committed continue to weigh you down. At such moments, you need to make another type of confession to God in order to regain your liberty from the weight that holds you down. You have to confess your unbelief in His word that says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). When you have genuinely repented of a sin and confessed it to God; and you have pleaded ...

A Partaker Of Other People's Sins? - Pastor E.A Adeboye

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Friday July 15th 2016 Memory Verse: Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure. - 1 Timothy 5:22 Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 18:28-34 28. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.  29. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.  30. Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.  31. And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.  32.For it came to pass, that, whe...
