Incremental Releases

“He tells us everything over and over—
one line at a time, one line at a time, a little here, and a little there!” Isa.28:10 A lot of the time, we are too cautious; waiting for things to be perfect. We want to dot the I’s and cross the T’s. Note this, if you wait to dot all the “I’s” and cross all the “T’s”, by the time you are ready, it will be too late. In fact someone said relating to software programming, “If you are proud of your first release, you released it too late”. The first page release of some of these social media sites was ugly but they shipped anyway. It is called incremental releases. I am a huge supporter of rapid application development, which is, release the code quickly so that users engage it and give you feedback. Instead of staying in a cocoon and thinking you have all the solutions. Then by the time you release the solution it does not even fit the target market. God does incremental releases. God does not wait until we are perfect before He uses us. He...

Discover What Grace Can Do

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33 Most of us don’t have any idea what grace really is. Oh, we know some basic facts about it. We know we were saved by it (Ephesians 2:8). But we don’t even begin to understand the real power it can release in our lives now, today! If you want to get a picture of what grace can really do, look at what happened to the early Christians in Acts 4. They’d been threatened by the religious leaders of Jerusalem and commanded not to speak or teach anymore in Jesus’ Name. So, they were praying about the situation. Roughly, what they said was this, “Now Lord, we’ve been threatened, but we aren’t about to quit preaching and go hide out under some religious rug. Just turn the power up, give us boldness, and we’ll go on.” Do you know what happened as a result of that prayer? Verse 33 tells us, “Great grace was upon them all.” Great grace. Grace so powerful that wh...

Caution?

Topic: Caution? { Fresh Fire 17th June, 2016} “During the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, Josiah began to seek the God of his ancestor David. Then in the twelfth year he began to purify Judah and Jerusalem, destroying all the pagan shrines, the Asherah poles, and the carved idols…” 2 Chro.34:3 A time must come when you have to set aside your caution so that you can make progress. So what is the solution to logical caution? The solution to logical caution is actually logic itself. An example in Scripture is the story of the four lepers in Samaria.  “Now there were four men with leprosy sitting at the entrance of the city gates. “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other. “We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. So we might as well go out and surrender to the Aramean army. If they let us live, so much the better. But if they kill us, we would have died anyway.” 2 Kings 7:3-4. ...

Be Attentive

“I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands” Ps. 119:60 This lesson on exploitation is so important. Stop procrastinating and just do it! Have you seen a lady trying to kill a cockroach without any ‘weapon’ in hand? She would step on everything else and everywhere else in that room but on the actual cockroach. I am sure you are wondering why I am using such an illustration. It will come to you. It is not convenient but just do it. Do not miss the opportunity for obedience. Israel missed a window of opportunity. God said to them go and possess the land but Israel said we are unable to possess the land. Israel missed that window of opportunity and did not get it back until forty years had passed. In fact, a whole generation died, meaning that that generation did not enter the Promised Land. Why? It is because an opportunity missed, can hurt you for a very long, long time. The second enemy of exploitation capable of keeping us from taking action and exploiting situations...

Do Not Miss It!

“I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work” John.9:4 Yesterday, we began to look at the four enemies of exploitation and we learnt that the first one is Procrastination. And it dovetailed into us bringing three characteristics of opportunity into focus. We established that the first characteristic opportunity is that opportunities multiply as they are seized. #2. Opportunities have expiry dates. Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work”. Not when no one will be unwilling to work, you may be willing to work but once it is night you cannot. You may have all the energy in the world but once the night comes, you cannot work. Every opportunity has a day time and a night time. If you do not move while it is day, once it is night the door is shut and once the door shuts, it shuts. Every opportunity has an expiry date. #3. An opportunity missed can hurt you for a long ...

Just Stand

“Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!” 1 Kings 18:44 I am able to live with the fact that I have tried something and it did not work than not try it and regret that if I had tried, maybe it would have worked. This is the mantra that I live by. Big deal if I tried and it did not work; I will just try another thing. But a lot of people are laden with regrets about the things they should have done but did not do. But that is going to change, in Jesus Name. Sometimes we get to a place in life where it seems there is no break, no opening, or no opportunity. A place where it seems as though nothing is opening up. If you are in that category, the first thing you need to know is, just remain faithful and the opportunity will come. Just stand your ground, something always ha...

Learning to Think With the Mind of Christ

One of the greatest revelations of my life is: I can choose my thoughts and think things on purpose. In other words, I don't have to just think about whatever falls into my mind. This was a life-changing revelation for me because as Proverbs 23:7 (AMPC) says, "As [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he." I like to say it like this: Where the mind goes, the man follows. Now God is concerned about the hidden man of the heart, which is our inner life. Our inner life is what we think about. And like the scripture above says, the way we think determines how we live and who we are. That's why we need to think about what we're thinking about. It's so important for us to understand this because if we don't learn how to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (see 2 Corinthians 10:4-5), we won't live the life Jesus died to give us — a life of peace with God, peace with ourselves, great relationships, real joy and the ability to become all God h...
